Does Positivity Really Works? How? A Trip to the Power Of Positivity

'Stay calm and be positive', 'Positivity is the key to happiness', etc. You must have heard these quotes more than your name. From the very beginning, in any negative or difficult situation, we are told to stay positive. But does always being positive really helps? Is it just a theory that staying positive attracts positive things or do we have any proof of it? Well, to prove this, Brain Games, a National Geographic's show, conducted an experiment which can prove the power of positivity than anything else. So, first of all, let's take a look on that experiment.

The 'Positivity' Experiment

In this street experiment, the host with his group of 12-15 people, picked up a random girl, took her to a basketball court, and asked her to shoot the basketball in the hoop. The girl gave a total of ten shots and missed each of them. Then, the host blindfolded her and asked her to try some shots again. In the second turn too, blindfolded, she missed every shot. But, as she was not able to see anything, the host and the other people lied to her that she nailed some shots and was playing like a pro. Now, the girl gathered some confidence and positivity in herself. Again, she was asked to throw some shots but this time her eyes were open. And you will not believe that she actually gave a couple of successful throws in that turn. Now, let's turn up to another situation in which the host picked up a professional basketball player who  scored 10/10 shots. Even after blindfolding him, he managed to pull some successful shots. But here, the host told him that he didn't took up even a single shot which made him upset. Now, in the third turn, when he was asked to give some throws again, but now because he was filled with negativity and also due to the crowd's negative reinforcement, the basketball professional, didn't took up more than four to five successful shots.

What Actually Happened?

Till now you would have analyzed the situation and guessed what happened. How positive thinking and people's positive reinforcement turned a person who didn't even knew B of Basketball turned into a mediocre player but due to negativity, a professional player got partially distracted from his skills.

That's how positivity works. And that's how the Placebo Effect works too.

There is a simple rule- Whatever energy you send to the universe, the same will come back to you.
